What’s the difference between Step-Through and Step-Over electric bikes?
The main difference lies in the frame design. The choice depends on your riding scenario and personal preference.

How are Tarmac ST's motor and transmission systems different from those of ordinary city cars?
Tarmac ST is equipped with a high-efficiency 750W brushless rear-wheel motor (peak output 920W), with a large torque of 75Nm, powerful start and rapid acceleration, and can easily cope with urban slopes and loaded commuting. When the Tarmac, Mokwheel’s latest commuter e-bike, was revealed, I couldn’t help but try to imagine how it would ride and perform. Based on our previous experiences with the brand, I expected a bike with plentiful power and battery capacity. I wasn’t disappointed; the Tarmac is equipped with a robust 750W hub motor and a sizable 720 Wh battery.
The bike feels solid while riding—no mystery rattles or cheap sensations. It genuinely punches above its weight class in perceived quality. The 29×2.35 Cooper Preston tires feature a city commuter tread that rolls quietly and smoothly, while the hydraulic disc brakes provide confident stopping power. Anytime a commuter comes with full front-to-back LED lighting, including taillights with brake functionality and turn signals, I’m impressed. Between that lighting package and the rear rack, the Tarmac is genuinely built to commute.
The LED control center display is detachable so the bike can’t be turned on without it and includes relevant ride data such as speed, mileage and pedal-assist mode. The lighting package includes a frame-integrated headlight and taillight that serves as a brake light and includes turn signal indicators. The rear rack also has a tail/bake light.
The Tektro hydraulic brakes on the E-bike ensure you stop safely and smoothly every time. These high-quality brakes give you the confidence of great stopping power, especially on steep descents or in heavy traffic. Their reliable performance and the renowned brand behind them mean you can expect longevity and less frequent maintenance.
